Extreme weather is intensifying worldwide, driven by rising global energy use. Last year, 80% of energy came from carbon-based sources, producing 42 gigatons of CO₂. Achieving net-zero by 2050 requires carbon capture, carbon removal, and renewable energy, with carbon capture playing a critical role.
In May 2020, anticipating the U.S. election, I studied climate policy, technology pathways, and carbon capture progress. I realized the most effective way to achieve climate impact, defensible technology, and a sustainable business is to focus on core, controllable, scalable technology: solid sorbents.
Solid sorbents efficiently capture CO₂, operate under low energy, and can be deployed across diverse industrial settings. This insight led me to found Metasorbex, which leverages advanced sorbent platforms to provide scalable, cost-effective carbon capture across industries, energy systems, and data centers, while converting CO₂ into low-carbon fuels and chemicals, advancing a circular carbon economy.
While Trump’s support for fossil fuels could slow policy-driven adoption in the U.S., Metasorbex’s mission remains viable through private-sector demand, international markets, and the inherent scalability and cost-effectiveness of its technology. In some ways, a less supportive federal policy reinforces the importance of private-sector climate leadership, which Metasorbex exemplifies.
